Description

Works under general guidance of a Senior Analyst in providing fundamental value-added qualitative and quantitative analysis of companies in a specific industry sector to support a recommended buy, sell or hold a stock. Advises external and internal clients, writes reports, and gives presentations based on company and industry analysis. Responsible for developing relationships with counterparts at key institutional clients to enhance agency business/generate agency revenue.

Key Accountabilities will include:
  • Conduct research on top listed companies within a particular sector, in conjunction with Senior Analyst of sector (where appropriate)
  • Prepare detailed basic reports, which include:
    • conducting specific due diligence
    • conducting industry analysis
    • modeling the company's financials
    • share volatilities
  • Prepare written material for event driven morning calls (primary responsibility in absence of Senior Analyst); respond to/analyse all relevant information
  • Research and write topical industry pieces
  • Provide market information to selected institutional and retail clients
  • May function as back-up to Senior Analyst on stocks he/she covers (this will vary from Analyst to Analyst depending upon skill level and experience)
  • Attend industry conferences and seminars
  • Attend technical seminars and training sessions
  • Supervise and develop Associates and Assistants in basic analytical skills
  • May perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with the ethical standards contained in the Citigroup Code of Conduct
  • Adhere to firm policies and procedures, regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Some marketing trips with Senior Analyst may be involved to sector companies interstate and overseas


Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in an appropriate business related discipline (accounting, economics etc)
  • May have post-graduate qualifications i.e., CFA, MBA, Masters, Chartered Accounting
  • Series 7 registered.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Research Associate or equivalent
  • Technical ability to analyse industry groups and earnings reports
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to build financial models
  • Advanced excel
  • Through knowledge of the relevant industry
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on earnings forecasts and industry trends
  • Sound knowledge of both economic and financial market indicators
  • Accounting expertise
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements and models
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively write industry reports for publication
