We act with integrity in all of our business relationships, complying with all applicable laws, following best practice guidelines in corporate governance, and providing a healthy and safe workplace for all our employees.

Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Treasurer of BC Hydro provides strategic direction and leadership to support debt financing and management, cash management, investments, insurance, pension management, and treasury risk management. The Treasurer works closely with the BC Hydro CFO, the BC Ministry of Finance, the BC Hydro Executive Team and Board of Directors in supporting the attainment of the organization’s mission to provide reliable, affordable, clean electricity throughout British Columbia, safely.

The scope and responsibility for this position encompasses accountability for the management of the organization’s over $22B of debt. This includes the formulation of strategic plans for BC Hydro in the areas of cash and debt management, business contract management, long-term plans related to borrowing (currently over $2B/annum to fund capital expenditures), pension management and insurance programs. Through effective delegation, coaching and management of a team of 8 financial professionals, the Treasurer oversees and controls the operation of BC Hydro's treasury department and its practices.

The ideal candidate is a senior treasury professional with proven leadership experience from a large, capital-intense, multi-functional organization. A strong influencer and collaborator, you bring superior technical knowledge and proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans in a treasury leadership role, including financial modeling, hedging, risk, credit, forecasting and capital structure. The ability to build solid relationships and trust amongst a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders will be paramount to success in the role.
