The Requirements
We're hiring into our Debt & Ratings Advisory business in London at vice president or director level
  • This is an opportunity to take a key role in the Commercial & Private Banking Debt & Ratings Advisory business
  • You'll be originating and executing debt and ratings advisory mandates for clients
  • The role is available at senior vice president or director level

What you'll do

As a senior member of the team you'll be providing accurate, relevant and insightful input to clients in pitches and discussions, including quantitative and qualitative situation analysis, conclusions and suggestions, and presentation slides. You'll also play a full role in managing the team and wider business's risk, including by ensuring an effective control environment through regular control assessment, and ensuring roles and responsibilities are well understood.

Your other responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and creating insightful client pitches with analytical and advisory focus and ideas
  • Responding to relevant client questions and developing client solutions
  • Assisting clients in structuring or reviewing debt structures to achieve a credit rating and other objectives, and forming a view of an indicative rating outcome
  • Building close working relationships with clients, financing product experts in NatWest Markets, and other institutions and rating agencies
  • Regularly engaging with the rating agencies on analytical and commercial discussions

The skills you'll need

We're looking for someone with expert knowledge of credit and ideally rating agency methodologies, developed through experience in a credit rating agency, or in a debt or credit ratings advisory team in a top tier investment or commercial bank. Whatever your career history you'll have experience dealing with actual advisory situations with clients, or in leading issuers through the full rating process, as well as experience in debt capital markets structuring.

You'll have a relevant postgraduate qualification such as a CFA, chartered accountancy qualification, MBA, or the equivalent professional knowledge.

You'll also bring:
  • Experience of leading and developing junior colleagues, including providing training and guidance in preparing client materials
  • Excellent analytical skills, with proven knowledge of corporate finance, financial modelling, and credit analysis
  • The ability to construct high quality presentations independently, and with attention to detail
  • Good organisation, with the ability to multitask and respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous projects
  • A confident and professional presence in all settings, and with high level client executives
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with various parts of the project team
