Verity Investment Partners (VIP) is a dividend growth investment manager looking for an experienced individual to identify, develop and manage relationships in the Institutional Investment marketplace. This individual will help VIP identify potential institutional opportunities that best match the firm’s value proposition, develop relationships with these firms and manage these relationships on an ongoing basis.

This position will be responsible for the sales and marketing of all Investment opportunities to the institutional (RIA, HNW Family Office, Broker-dealer) client base. The successful candidate will analyze current and pending institutional products from VIP, categorizing them by appropriate institutional prospects and determining the most cost-effective means of making VIP “visible” and necessary to those groups and individuals to drive sales.  The role will include the management of key client relationships involving both direct clients and intermediaries as aligned within the asset management solutions provided.  A key component will also include working with members of the Management Committee of VIP to support their efforts to build the brand and relationships of VIP through proactive support of their activities. 

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

This position will represent a “super salesperson” for purposes of both building market demand and generating direct sales. More specifically, the position of Institutional Business Development and Relationship Management will include:

  • Research of VIP products and services as well as the key players in the Institutional Market who would want to know about VIP’s capabilities
  • Determine suitable manager databases for submission of firm/performance data and develop framework for initial and ongoing population of data
  • Study the differentiators provided by VIP compared to perceived ‘competitors’ in the minds of targeted prospects
  • Contact prospective clients to uncover and identify key elements that drive their decision making about using one firm’s investment products over others
  • Interact with CIO, Investment Committee, and Investment Team members to include Product Managers and Analyst and others within VIP to identify appropriate products for development as well as existing products aligned with the needs of targeted prospects
  • Interact with outsourced Marketing support to create plan for message and optimum distribution media / communications methodology to raise awareness for VIP products and services
  • Build relationships with key players and targeted prospects in the markets to build scheduled appointments and potential presentation audiences
  • Prepare presentations and other formats to communicate and build brand awareness for VIP Institutional products
  • Attend appointments with targeted prospects and deliver presentations to appropriate affiliated groups to build awareness
  • Ongoing research to keep up to date on market trends and interests in the Institutional markets providing insight and analysis to Product Managers, CIO and Investment Committee
  • Maintain positive relationship with key clients and prospects to ensure high retention and opportunities for growth within client base

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience preferred, including at least 5 years of experience developing and supporting institutional business development
  • Experience with dividend growth investment strategies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Client first attitude, professional demeanor, personal integrity and an understanding of fiduciary responsibility
  • Ability to multi‐task and manage time effectively 
  • Self‐motivated, confident, detail‐oriented, and analytical
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed
  • Enjoys working as part of a Team environment with high accountability

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (required)
  • Professional designation, such as CIMA or CFA is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as experience with financial planning, client relationship management (CRM) and portfolio management (PM) software
