Job Description for Financial Analyst

Washington, DC based SEC registered investment firm seeking a financial analyst. As one of the nation’s leading independent fiduciary services firms, we serve as investment manager for certain assets in defined benefit and defined contribution plans. The responsibilities of the successful candidate will likely include the following:

For a portfolio of companies, perform the following activities in order to assess the impact on the financial condition of the company and report on such activities weekly to our Investment Committee:
-    Review publicly available information on each company daily
-    Analyze financial reports and other disclosures filed by the company, such as Forms 8-K, 10Q and 10K 
-    Participate on company investor conference calls
-    Participate on industry investor conference calls
-    Analyze credit ratings of company from S&P and Moody’s
-    Review equity analyst recommendations
-    Develop an understanding of the critical drivers of the company’s market (such as regulatory, R&D, etc.)
-    Review proxy materials, understand the proxy advisory services’ recommendations and develop an internal recommendation to the Investment Committee regarding the firm’s vote on each proxy issue
-    Prepare reports and presentations for clients on all of the above

As necessary, assist senior members of the firm with data preparation and/or analysis pertaining to:
-    Management of client real estate holdings
-    Private equity portfolios
-    Investment manager performance
-    New client proposals

Qualifications:

B.S. in finance, MBA, or CFA preferred. Individual must be able to work independently, prioritize assignments, and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are critical. Familiarity with Bloomberg and Thomson Eikon is a plus.
