The Abu Dhabi Investment Council (The Council) is an investment arm of the Government of Abu Dhabi. It is responsible for investing part of the government’s surplus financial resources through a globally diversified investment strategy, targeting positive capital returns through an expansive portfolio of highly diversified asset classes and active investment management strategies. The investment strategy of the Council seeks to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns across the entire capital structure while preserving capital.


Purpose of the Role:
Responsible for managing and further developing the Performance Analysis capabilities of the Council. The Team Leader, Performance Analysis leads the undertaking of in-depth performance evaluations and investigations, the research and analysis of Council’s Performance, Performance Attribution, Investment Strategies, Benchmarks, Ex-Post risk measures. Also in charge of the research, assessment and implementation of new service offerings to ensure that the Council continues to adhere to the most relevant performance measurement metrics and standards. Designs and oversees various periodic and ad-hoc analytical work and analysis of performance information to Portfolio Managers, Investment departments and governing committees.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Manages and supervises the activities of assigned personnel and performs supervisory duties at the level established by management for the position.
Contributes to and verifies periodic attribution and analytical performance reports, including analysis papers and research documents.
Manages internal and external performance audits, which includes engagement scoping, onsite work and audit report review.
Oversees, develops, and enhances performance analytics, attribution and contribution calculation and detailed performance monitoring.
Develops comprehensive investment manager analytics and performance efficiency measures, such as Standard Deviation, Variance, Duration, Convexity, Information Ratio, Tracking Error, Beta, Sharpe Ratio, TVPI, DPI, among others.
Provides analysis and evaluation of benchmarks for all asset categories. Develops customized benchmark calculations as required.
Presents to the Investment Committee reports related to Department Performance and Analytics.
Accountable for major projects in the Performance Measurement system, and accountable for both projects and maintenance of the FactSet Performance Analysis system.
Participates in ongoing system research activities aimed at ensuring that the Division stays at the forefront of technology.
Identifies and analyses new developments, discusses future needs, reviews applications and keeps teams involved and up to date with industry trends and developments.
Undertakes specific project studies, as assigned, including ad hoc analytical studies and reports.
Develops detailed procedures and documentation covering performance methodology choices.
Ensures strict adherence to Council policy and fosters continuous process improvements as per international best practice within assigned area of responsibility.
Responsible for the training, coaching and development of UAE Nationals within the framework of Emiratisation.
Carries out other similar or related duties as assigned.

Education
Undergraduate/graduate degree in Accounting, Finance or Management Information Systems
CFA Charterholder: required
Either CIPM, CAIA or PMP qualified: required
VBA scripting, relational databases and SQL a strong plus

Experience
A minimum of 7 years’ experience in Investment performance measurement, with significant exposure to alternative asset classes, from a tier 1 asset manager or a sovereign wealth fund.
Detailed knowledge of the major asset classes and the valuation and performance measurement methodologies of large international multi-asset investment funds.
A minimum of 3 years of proven track record in managing a team of specialists.
Experience in performance systems implementations or enabling new functionalities is preferred.
Proven experience in senior business stakeholder management and support.


Technical Expertise / Skills / Knowledge
Strong spoken and written communication skills

Experience with performance measurement services or software, FactSet BISAM preferred
Detailed knowledge of Alternative Asset classes, i.e. investments in in Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Special
Situations, Real Estate and Infrastructure
Private Equity & Real Estate investments reporting experience
Experience with Bloomberg and FactSet
Experience with investment management programs such as SEI and/or eFront
Excellent Excel skills
Excellent analytical and intellectual capabilities
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
