Job Details

The position will be a key part of the US Product Development team. The individual will work in close cooperation with members of the US Product group, members of the investment teams and the sales organization.

The primary goal of the US Product group is to build and establish product and client engagement strategies to attract and retain clients. The key responsibilities of the US Product group are:

  • Develop and maintain high quality products across the investment platform
  • Diversify product line and asset base to ensure a strong representation of the global firm’s highest conviction strategies
  • Identify and help support understanding, positioning and sales of high conviction strategies 
  • Manage product lines and grow overall product profitability

The position and team is based in New York.  The Product Group supports the Retail (Advisory and RIA Sales), Institutional (Business Development and Consultant Relations) and Financial Institutions Group (Insurance General Account, Sub advisory and Retirement Platforms) channels. 

The ideal candidate will have experience in the asset management industry, specifically in institutional business and in the development of alternative investment strategies that employ illiquid assets. Required qualifications include analytical skills, stakeholder management and project management skills.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the investment teams and distribution organization to identify and develop compelling product ideas, in particular in alternative investment strategies
  • Prepare analysis of the competitive landscape that a potential new product would encounter and locate factors that distinguish successful products in the category
  • Prepare new product development proposals and the presentation materials that are provided to internal Committees and independent Boards as needed
  • Track demand trends, vehicles and competitive developments in Alternatives
  • Develop and maintain strong understanding of AllianzGI’s Alternatives platform and relative positioning of the various products
  • Work with the Institutional Distribution and Insurance General Account Channel for assessing new product ideas, addressing product related requests and tracking client demand trends
  • Collaborate with international Product team members for vetting and creating global alternative products
  • Work across different projects and functions within the US and global Product and Strategy teams 

Experience / Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong academic track record with a BA/BS or an advanced degree and industry certification such as the CFA or CAIA
  • Eight years (or more) of experience in the asset management industry, preferably in product development / investment consulting
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Alternatives – Private Debt and Equity, Real Assets, Real Estate, Hedge Funds
  • Knowledge of different investment vehicles, with experience in the formation of vehicles for illiquid assets and Institutional clients
  • Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills with the ability to organize and interpret data to reach conclusions
  • Strong project management skills
  • Solid understanding of the capital markets, quantitative analysis, and statistical methods
  • Strong financial modeling skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experienced user of databases and applications used for analyzing investment performance and flow trends (e.g. Morningstar Direct, eVestment and Factset)
  • Strong writing skills, with some experience describing the performance of portfolios and connecting investment performance to broad market themes preferred
